Very few of us are naturally gifted to face the conflict challenges that arise in our leadership positions. Happily we can still become very effective in facing and dealing with them. Conflict almost always follows predictable patterns. Whilst no two conflict situations are ever the same, the underlying causes and fundamental principles at work in conflict are often remarkably similar. This means that conflict can be studied and understood. It also means that effective steps to prevent conflict, and to reconcile it once it has occurred, can also be identified and put in place.
